Assistant/Associate Professor, Health Sciences (multiple vacancies)


Job Summary
The Department of Health Sciences currently houses the Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration, the Bachelor of Science in Public Health, the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and the Master of Science in Health Science. In addition, we offer three certificate programs, including a graduate certificate in Health Services Administration.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the Department of Health Sciences, specifically in the Health Sciences or Health Administration programs. The successful candidate will be expected to hold a record of excellent teaching as well as an ability to mentor students in discipline-relevant experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly activities including, but not limited to, conducting research, presenting research results at professional conferences, producing publications, and pursuing external sources of funding to support such activities. The candidate is also expected to provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. The candidate will be expected to be an active member of the department participating in curriculum review and development. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences in the Marieb College of Health & Human Services.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Teaching: Teaches select construction management courses as well as more advanced courses directly related to their specific area of expertise.
  • Scholarship: Demonstrates successful productivity in Health Sciences and/or educational scholarship over time.
  • Service: Performs service within the university as well as within their professional community.
  • Plan and teach lectures in assigned course.
  • Prepares syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates.
  • Keeps abreast of new information and developments in field of instruction.
  • Participate in curriculum development, student learning outcomes, and methods of assessment
  • Participate in student recruitment and admission selection
  • Participate in scholarly activities at University, regional and national events
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • Position requires a Doctorate in Health Administration, Health Sciences, Health Services Research, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching expertise in quality improvement, healthcare finance, or health economics
  • Experience with CAHME accreditation or AUPHA certification
  • Research agenda focused on health administration or health sciences
  • Demonstrated experience in online teaching with the use of Learning Management systems (LMS)
  • 3-5 years of post-secondary teaching experience


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.

Appointment will be made at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 12-month multi-year appointment basis available August 2024.
